Can I wear Sandals with Orthotics

Updated: Aug 2, 2019

The short answer is Yes.

Custom Made Foot Orthotics, also known as custom orthotics, are individually prescribed medical devices made from a non weight-bearing scan or cast of your feet.

Custom Orthotics are designed to be worn in place of the innersole inside your shoes, to improve the postural alignment and function of your feet in order to prevent or treat injuries caused by abnormal foot motion such as pronation (rolling in) and supination (rolling out). They can also be used to balance the weight-bearing pressures beneath the foot, and to make activities such as walking and running more efficient.

This is good news if you need to wear prescription orthotics, but dislike wearing enclosed, lace-up, orthotic-friendly footwear in summer.

For sandals to take orthotics, they must have a removable insole that sits in a recess in the sole of the shoe.

What if you could have all that, with supportive arch support technology to relieve aching feet and pain from plantar fasciitis or heel pain?

A good company is Vionic. They provide arch support technology in the most up to date styles. Made with high quality materials such as durable leather and soft suede, created for all-day wear so that your feet can be comfortable no matter where you are going.

Orthotic Shoes Canada has partnered with your health professional to supply footwear that will improve your health and well being and have a line of sandals from a variety of companies.
