What is a Chiropodist?

Updated: Dec 14, 2018

Chiropodists are regulated health care professionals that comprise the largest number of foot specialists in Ontario. They are primary health practitioners (a doctor's referral is not required to make an appointment) who are licensed to assess and provide treatment for a variety of medical conditions/services relating to the feet.

Chiropodists help patients eliminate foot pain, gain mobility, and maintain healthy feet. They treat sports injuries; common foot conditions such as bunions, heel pain, spurs, flat feet, hammertoes, neuromas, ingrown toenails, varicose veins, fungal infections, diabetic wounds, warts, corns and calluses.

They provide routine foot care (nails and skin), custom orthotic therapy, treatment and surgery for ingrown nails and various other specific treatments as part of an individualized plan of management for each patient. Chiropody services can benefit people of all ages and backgrounds including children, seniors, athletes and people with diabetes, arthritis and symptoms of overuse. In fact, anyone can benefit from chiropody care! They play a role in the prevention of injury and disability and in promoting foot health and well being.

If you are looking for a foot doctor in the Burlington, Hamilton, or Stoney Creek area, Parkway Back and Foot Clinic has Chiropodist, Danielle Willis who says, “I have sincerely found my 16+ years of professional practice inspiring and rewarding. It has been and continues to be a privilege to be trusted with achieving good foot health for so many!”
